All about the Artist: Patty McGeheee


Patricia F. “Patty” McGehee

Patty attended Louisiana State University where she studied 
painting and Lithography. Her concentration of study 
was focused on drawing and Printmaking. 
She continued her education earning a Bachelor of 
Science in Education at Southeastern Louisiana University. 
Patty retired from teaching in public schools in 2016. 
Today, she is focused on making hand colored limited edition
Intaglio prints, Serigraphs, and Monotypes in her tiny studio 
at her home in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. She has affectionately
named her studio "The Petite Atelier."



After gaining certification, she taught Visual Arts and Science courses for 26 years in public schools. In 1999, she began teaching workshops in a variety of Art techniques. She created and directed a multi–faceted children’s day camp named Camp Tangipawawa. Funded by the Citizens for a Clean Tangipahoa (CFACT), this camp focused on teaching children about pollution in the Tangipahoa River by integrating Art into lessons about Science. She also taught adult and children's Art Camps at Hammond Regional Arts Center, River Region Art Association, and Hammond Cultural Foundation. She has demonstrated printmaking several times during the “Art On The Front Porch” series at River Region Art Gallery and at Hammond Regional Arts Center.

Her previous exhibitions and involvement in the Arts  have been:
Twenty six consecutive years in Hammond Art Guild's Spring Show, with winning ribbons in Third place and many honorable mentions.  Artist in Residence, Hammond Regional Arts Center, Spring, 2019.
